I've been loving painting desert landscapes lately, and this piece shows exactly why! It's based on a view of the Sonoran Desert in Arizona just as the poppies are blooming. The sky is a whimsical pink and blue sunset. There are burnt orange, rocky mountains receding into the distance. In the foreground are thickly textured saguaro cacti, with spring wildflowers framing the scene.
